The quick way to test if a track is stereo or mono

August 2, 2017Leave a CommentFundamentals, Tests, Troubleshooting

I made today’s video for you to answer a question I get all the time… When should I keep my tracks in stereo and when should I make them mono?

This is a question I used to really struggle with when I was starting out and my decisiveness was lacking. Now I know that there’s a simple test you can do that let’s you know every time whether the tracks you have in your session are truly stereo tracks or they’re actually mono tracks that have been imported as stereo.

Spending just a few minutes on this at the start of your mix will clear up any confusion you might have and help you make better decisions during your mix!
