How to produce music with Xpand!2 (Part 3 – Bass)

March 15, 20184 CommentsBass, Plugins, Pro Tools, Virtual Instruments

Part one of this series showed you how to make a nice modern drum beat with Xpand!2.

Part two helped you create some nice chord and pad sounds to develop a nice sense of harmony in your production.

This video is all about how to produce some really nice bass sounds that compliment your music.

Remember… the idea behind this video series is to show you how you can create great sounds with either stock or free virtual instruments.

Almost every DAW comes with an inbuilt VST instrument that you can use to make incredible music.

You don’t need Pro Tools or Xpand2! to follow along because the concepts can be applied to any DAW or stock instrument you might own.

So check out Video 3 of the series!

Now, I’d love to know…

What’s your favourite VST for producing bass sounds?

Really useful series. I started using Xpand!2 because…it was all I had. I have a lot more plugins/instruments now but still use it on almost every mix. Just because it’s “stock” doesn’t mean it’s not a great plugin

Glad to hear you’re getting value from the series. I think your comment is fantastic because it shows you worked with the tools you had and it doesn’t matter that you now have more plugins/instruments, it’s still one of your “go to” VSTs.

Well, this looks like the “quest for sounds” I used to do (and still do) with my analog synths!..
Years ago I spent countless hours searching for programs that fit some arrangements and then recording them, so it`s a good thing that digital plugins alow us to compare / choose different tones so easily and “into the track!”. And yes, we can use VSTs to get (almost) the same result as if we were using analog / real instruments…

The ability to save countless hours with VSTs is truly amazing. I have seen how a top engineer/producer we all know uses one controller to trigger any of his huge collection of synths and he has the various sounds he likes deeply programmed into his brain. It is a sight to behold!
